Time

Hello and welcome. It's challenge time over at That's Crafty again. The theme this fortnight is All Things Grunge. Here is my DT inspiration and you can see it here, along with all the other great makes from the rest of the design team. I do love a bit of grunge so was looking forward to this challenge but time has been very short for me lately due to other commitments so I ended up out of time and had to make something quick last minute. It's not quite as was planned but hey ho. I did something and that's all you have to do, so come on and have a go. Don't forget there is a prize for the winner.

Here's what I used...

That's Crafty dinky stencils...Arrows, numbers, cogs, clock background, metal grid and leaning man.
Visible Image stamp set...Somewhere in Time.
Sheena Douglas Stamp set...Time Machine.
PaperArtsy Fresco paints...Snowflake, Stone, Bora Bora, Caribbean Sea,French Toast.
DinaWakely acrylic paints...Ruby and Medieval.
Treasure Gold...White Fire and Florentine.
Distress Inks...Weathered Wood, Scattered Straw, Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain.
Archival Ink...Watering Can and Jet Black.
Versafine Ink...Vintage Sepia and black.
Sweet Poppy glossy black paste.
Tim Holtz word bands and cogs.
Pinflair Glue Gel.
Pinflair Gloss Varnish.

Here's what I did...

I applied the stone and french toast fresco paints over the board using a brayer. I knocked it back by brayering over with a very light amount of snowflake. Once happy with the look I took the carribean sea and dinky cog stencil and pounced though randomly. I then took the clock background stencil and did the same using Vintage photo. I used the ruby paint through the dinky numbers and the medieval through the dinky metal grid stencil randomly. I used the 8 x 8 clock and french toast to apply part of the clock to the right hand side of the board. I stamped the balloon with vintage sepia and the word time from the Visible Image stamp set with watering can. I used the cogs from the same stamp set and stamped parts of it with Bora Bora paint. I used the numbers stamp with black stazon and stamped parts of that randomly. I wanted to add some white splatters so mixed a little water into a drop of snowflake and used a fanned paint brush to tap over the paint.

I took the Time stencil and grunge paste to create the word at the top and used a heat gun to speed up drying but added some texture with a pen lid by dabbing over the paste. I also used the glossy black paste and dinky leaning man stencil to create the man at the bottom and used a heat gun again to speed up drying at the same time poking with my finger gently to disturb the surface as I didn't want it smooth. I also stamped the large splat from the stamp set with Versamark and embossed with copper embossing powder. I set this aside to dry further.

I stamped the clock onto smooth white card twice with black versafine and embossing powder. One I left complete and the other I cut up so I could add the pieces with glue gel to give the look of raised shattered pieces. I glued my whole image over the embossed splat.

I took the treasure gold in Florentine and applied it over the grunge paste word time. Then used a stipple brush to add some Bora Bora fresco paint  followed by more treasure gold until happy. I then highlighted areas with the white fire treasure gold.

I then stamped my wording onto a piece of spare card and blended over the scattered straw distress ink. I used the cog stamp again to stamp part of it around the edges with vintage photo. I also used that to darken the edges adding a little walnut stain to darken it further. I mounted my wording onto a piece of brown card. I used the Tim Holtz cogs as a base for my wording which I glued into place with the all purpose glue before mounting my wording with glue gel. I took the Tim Holtz word band but wanted to highlight the words. To do this I used my finger to rub over with the Bora Bora. I wiped off the excess leaving the words nicely highlighted.

I then used my glue gel to stick all my broken pieces of clock into place and once dry, used some Pinflair gloss varnish to coat the surface of those pieces. Unfortunately it doesn't show in the photo below.

I decided at this point to add some more dimension. I used the dinky arrow stencil  and crackle paint to add the arrows and sand texture gel around the edges randomly and set aside to dry naturally over night. All that was left to do was blend over the arrows with vintage photo. Blend over the sand texture gel with walnut stain and treasure gold. I also added an arrow also by Tim Holtz on the bottom right.

I hope I didn't leave anything out. I hope you like it and may be got inspired. If so, please get crafty and enter the challenge. You can see the challenge rules here

All for now.
Much love, Bev. xxx
